Easter Dirt Mousse Cups

One of the first desserts I recall making on my own was my grandmother’s “Dirt” recipe. Since it doesn’t require using an oven, it was easy for me to make when I was a little girl and it was a favorite of mine.

I wanted to take the classic Oreo and chocolate pudding recipe for dirt and make it a springtime treat. This is a simple dessert to put together than is a guaranteed crowd pleaser. I used Golden Oreos and vanilla pudding.

Makes 6 Jelly Jars

1 1/2 C Cold Milk

1 Package Instant Vanilla Pudding (3.4 oz)

4 Oz Cream Cheese softened

1 Package Cool Whip (8 oz)

2/3 Package Golden Oreos

Green Food Coloring

Cadbury Mini Eggs

Start by crushing the Oreos using a Ziploc bag and rolling pin to apply pressure. Break into small pieces.

Next, mix the green food coloring into the milk. I used AmeriColor Electric Green and I used two large drops. I mixed the food coloring with the milk to ensure it was well mixed.

In a medium size bowl combine milk and instant pudding and mix until well combined. Add softened cream cheese and beat thoroughly to incorporate. Lastly, fold in the Cool Whip.

To assemble the jars, fill the bottom with crushed Oreos. Use a piping bag or spoon to fill the jars with the desired amount of the pudding mixture. You can choose to add a second layer of Oreos in the middle if desired.

Top off your Dirt cups with some additional crushed Oreos and Cadbury Mini Eggs. Why Cadbury Mini Eggs? Because I simply can’t get enough of them!
